Blog 3.3: May 11th- 17th      ___

We started off our week acting like animals! Students played a game where they walked, crawled and stomped across our classroom and back pretending to be different kind of animals together. This was a great activity to practice self control of having to wait to start walking together and to go back to their chairs each time in between animals.

First we looked at a picture of each animal.

 Then we all went together!
 LIONS!!!!

We continue to read “Polar Bear, Polar Bear” book together and students are now sometimes able to predict what animal will be coming next in the story and even quoting lines from the book. They really enjoy using the story puppets to join in the story as a character.

There was a big interest in airplanes and helicopters one afternoon- so we decided to paint a sky and make popsicle stick airplanes for a craft. Students were able to complete this several step project by painting their sky, popsicle sticks and then following directions to glue their airplanes together.

We have also spend more time this week playing with paint and allowing students to experiment mixing colors together. They have been very interested in the results and the effects of water on paint through discovery learning.
